Ultra high strength, ultra high modulus, low density:
UHMWPE fiber is one of the highest strength to weight ratios
of any manmade fiber. This remarkable fiber is up to 15 times
stronger than steel, weight-for-weight, and 40% stronger than
competing aramid fibers. With the specific density less than
one, it can float on water. Its modulus is very high, only
second to PAN and PBO fiber. It is extremely resistant to
abrasion, moisture, UV rays and chemicals. As a result, it
has numerous ranges of applications, providing maximum strength
and security for minimum weight.
High energy absorption and low elongation
It has high energy absorption and low elongation. Thank to

Other properties
With high toughness and suppleness, it also shows high resistance
to bleach and other chemicals, water, sea water and ultraviolet
light; it has excellent vibration damping, flex fatigue and
internal fiber-friction characteristics, good resistance to
abrasion, anti-mildewing. Not good enough resistance to heat
is its disadvantage. When over zero temperature, the strength
and modulus decrease as the temperature increases. While in
the event of below zero degree, the strength and modulus increase
as the temperature increases.
It has no cold brittleness below minus
50 degree and it has excellent insulation from electricity,
heat insulation and resistance to abrasion in the extremely
low temperature. Therefore, the fiber is an ideal kind of
material used in low temperature. It excels carbon fiber and
aramid fiber on main performance indexes, UHMWPE fiber is
the updated and alternative product in the global application
fiber field of high strength and high modulus.
Applications
Due to high strength, high modulus, light weight and excellent
resistance to abrasion,durability, sea water resistant, chemical
proof, anti-UV ray radiation and some other outstanding properties,
UHMWPE fiber is widely used in the fields of national Military
equipment, aviation, spaceflight, sea project and sports.
For example, it can be used to produce ultra-lightweight high
performance bulletproof panel, bulletproof helmet, lightweight
ballistic-resistant vests, puncture resistance vests, as well
as aviation and spaceflight composite, fishing lines, marine
cordage, lifting slings, and cut-resistant gloves and apparel
and also can be used to produce some other products such as
sledges, oaring boards' reinforced materials in construction
industry. The most wide application field is to produce ropes
and cordages and ballistic-resistant products (bullet proof
vests and armor products)

The break elongation rate of the UHMWPE
fiber cordages is 5%-9%. The inside clearance of the rope

decrease by 80% and the backlash velocity decrease by 35%
compared to conventional ropes made from common fibers.

of the ropes and cordages, fishing nets made from UHMWPE fiber
increase the quality and decrease the diameter contrast to
the general fibers, which decrease the resistance force by
